The Richard T. Doermer School of Business offers a five-year combined degree program through which students can obtain a Bachelors of Science in Business (B.S.B.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The combined degree program provides students with the opportunity to obtain both degrees in less time and fewer overall credits than would be required when pursuing them separately.

Students accepted into the combined-degree program will have 12 credits of graduate coursework that satisfy degree requirements for both the B.S.B. and the MBA.

Admission

Students may be admitted to the undergraduate 4+1 B.S.B. designation with the existing B.S.B. admission standards. Students admitted to the undergraduate 4+1 B.S.B. designation are not admitted to the MBA program at the time of undergraduate admissions, only to the undergraduate 4+1 B.S.B designation to allow for appropriate advising, degree audit planning, and course sequencing towards the combined degree option.

Students must be successfully admitted into the MBA Program prior to enrollment in any graduate-level course work. Enrollment in the 4+1 B.S.B. designation does not guarantee admissions to the MBA program. Students must apply for the MBA program only after meeting the following requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a B.S.B. program in the Doermer School of Business at PFW and have not yet received the B.S.B.
  • Must have finished at least 60 credit hours towards the B.S.B.
  • Must have achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0

Admissions to the MBA program as a 4+1 student will be contingent upon successful completion of the B.S.B. degree. After satisfactory completion of the B.S.B. degree requirements, the undergraduate degree will be awarded. The student’s primary degree objective will remain the B.S.B. until the B.S.B. is awarded. The MBA will be the student’s secondary degree objective from the time the student is accepted as an MBA student by the Graduate School until the award of the B.S.B. The B.S.B. degree must be awarded prior to the MBA degree.

Students who do not meet MBA admissions requirements will be removed from the 4+1 program, but may continue in the traditional B.S.B program so long as they remain in good standing with the university.
