The objective of this minor is to enhance the educational credentials of PFW students outside of the Doermer School of Business by preparing them to be more competitive in local and national labor market opportunities that utilize knowledge of the basic principles of corporate finance, financial management, and financial statement analysis. The elective courses aim to enhance students’ understanding of the local and national banking sector and issues related to international finance.
At the completion of this minor, students will achieve the following Student Learning Outcomes:
- Understand financial fundamentals and acquire foundational knowledge of key finance principles.
- Harness the knowledge of correctly interpreting and evaluating financial statements for corporate performance and corporate decision-making.
- Master various investment strategies, including portfolio management, capital budgeting, and asset allocation and diversification.
- Gain knowledge of how financial markets function and the impact of global financial markets on business decision-making.
- You must complete at least 12 of the required 18 credits at Purdue University Fort Wayne to be eligible to receive the minor.
Requirements
You must contact the Doermer School of Business Student Success Center to declare this minor.
You must earn at least a C- in foundational and upper-level courses to satisfy the requirements of the minor program, while maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0. At least 12 of the required 18 credits completed at PFW. The maximum time allowed from the completion of the first course to satisfy all program requirements is 8 years.

Depending upon what courses you have already completed, you may have already completed the pre-requisite course(s).
You must earn a C- or better in each course counted in the minor.
Student Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that you satisfy all graduation requirements specified for each selected program. Thus, it is essential that you develop a thorough understanding of the required courses, academic policies, and procedures governing your academic career. If you cannot complete all program requirements by your stated graduation date but fail to remove those from your plan of study, the Registrar’s Office in consultation with your academic advisor will remove unmet pursuits from your plan of study. Changing curricular records during the graduation term of application may affect state or federal financial aid awards. All requests for exceptions to specific requirements must be made in writing and may be granted only by written approval from the appropriate chair or dean.
