- 9 credits in 2000+ level or above HIST courses including courses in at least two of the following areas:
- United States - HIST 22000, 26000, 30101, 30201, 30302, 31001, 31101, 31301, 31401, 31501, 31801, 33502, 34501, 35002, 35101, 37701, 37801, 38201, 22500, 22801, 30502, 36001, 41601, 44700
- Western Europe - MARS 20100, HIST 22200, 30001, 31102, 31402, 35102, 35202, 35501, 36102, 37802, 38601, 38801, 39002, 20500, 22500, 30502, 32701, 36001
- World History - HIST 20101, 20200, 24101, 31002, 33101, 33201, 33503, 34101, 34201, 34502, 34601, 39301, 40201, 42601, 43200, 20500, 22500, 22801, 30502, 32701, 36001, 41601, 44700
- Included in the above credits must be at least one course dealing primarily with the period before 1800 (HIST 30101, 30201, 31001, 35102, 35202, 38601, 38801, 39301, 40201, 33101, 11300, 20101, 20500, 22200, and occasional special offerings).
- HIST 23200 may not be used to fulfill the Western European History or World History area requirements, but may be used for additional credits toward the major or minor.
