COM 51800 - Theories Of Persuasion Review of contemporary theories, including analysis of concepts, models, and pertinent research across the broad spectrum of persuasive communication.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Identify variables in the persuasive process, their interrelationships, moderating and mediating factors in a variety of communicative contexts.
2. Use theory to predict and understand attitude change and behavior.
3. Connect the field of persuasion to other bodies of knowledge to draw additional insight.
4. Understand basic concepts associated with the primary theories of communication.
5. Write a clear, concise, and reasoned paper on topics dealing with the concepts of persuasion theory.
6. Increase skill in analytical thinking and writing.
7. Demonstrate “sense-making,” the ability to apply knowledge to lived experience.
