PSY 37900 - Positive Psychology
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of human strengths, well-being, and optimal functioning. It examines theoretical foundations, empirical research, and applications that promote flourishing across individual and collective contexts.
Preparation for Course R: PSY 12000 with grade of C- or better.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of balanced approach to psychology and human life - one that integrates both positive psychological concepts (e.g., strengths, resilience, coping, etc.) with conceptualizations of deficit, difficulty, and distress.
2. Identify key positive psychology concepts, their scientific underpinnings, and their practical implications.
3. Outline the impact that positive psychology concepts can have in your specific fields and future careers.
4. Evaluate research studies in positive psychology, critically assessing the methodology, findings, and implications.
5. Develop the ability to implement positive psychology concepts in your own life to improve well-being and happiness.
