Linguistic analysis of present-day spoken and written English to its phonemic, morphemic and syntactical systems and its system of expressive features.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Develop a working knowledge of the core syntactic structure of the English language. 
2. Become familiar with the metalanguage necessary for effective grammar instruction and explanation. 
3. Foster an awareness of the interaction between form, meaning and use of the various grammatical choices of the English language. 
4. Apply grammatical knowledge to language learning/development through interaction with ELLs. 
5. Understand principles and techniques for effective grammar instruction for ELLs.
