PSY 35700 - Applied Social Psychology



This course surveys the major applied areas in social psychology. It focuses on the theorical and methodological foundations of applied social psychology, how social psychology can be applied to practical problems, such as problems in the workplace or on sports teams, societal problems, such as terrorism, and criminal justice, and our everyday lives, such as personal relationships and classroom performance.  

Preparation for Course
P: PSY 12000 with C- or above.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Understand the theoretical and methodological foundations of applied social psychology.
2.  Identify and discuss practical interventions derived from theorical perspectives.
3.  Evaluate critically the success of said interventions.
4.  Evaluate critically published applied research articles and communicate their understanding of these articles in an organized and concise manner through written assignments and discussions.
