PSY 46700 - Undergraduate Teaching Experience In Psychology



This course provides experience as an undergraduate teaching assistant for beginning courses in psychology. Understanding of issues related to teaching pedagogy is gained through seminar discussion based on scientific research and academic best practices, as well as applied experience with activities such as giving teaching presentations, grading assignments, and conducting study sessions for students.

1.  Understand the requirements and methods of teaching an introductory psychology class.
2.  Gain skills associated with teaching, giving presentations, grading assignments, and/or conducting small-group study sessions for students.
3.  Refine public communication and presentation skills.
4.  Investigate issues related to teaching.
5.  Develop greater working knowledge of computer-based presentation programs (e.g., PowerPoint).
6.  Deepen understanding of psychological concepts.
7.  Engage in meaningful professional relationships with faculty members in the department of psychology.
