CSD 40400 - Neural Bases Of Speech, Language, And Hearing



Neuroanatomical and neurophysiological bases of speech, language, hearing, sensory, and motor function. Special emphasis given to brain behavior correlates and behavioral consequences to speech, language, and hearing as a result of neurological injury or disease.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Describe components of the central nervous system, including neurons, motor and sensory pathways, and the cerebrovascular system.
2.  Explain the function of the cranial nerves associated with human communication.
3.  Summarize the brain imaging methods used to investigate the neural bases of speech, language, and hearing.
4.  Evaluate the relationship between clinical symptoms and brain damage to differentially diagnose various acquired neurological disorders.
