MUSC 30101 - Music Therapy Lecture Recital



Public performance and lecture including 25-30 minutes of music appropriate to a primary instrument of study and other clinically relevant instruments, and an additional 15-20 minutes of lecture material covering historical and cultural influences and clinical applications of the performed repertoire.

Preparation for Course
P: MUSC 29600 and 29800 (or equivalents) with a minimum of one semester of post-upper division applied study. Must be admitted into the Music Therapy (BSMT) program.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Learn the technical proficiency and musical artistry necessary for supporting the musical engagement of others in clinical music therapy settings.
2.  Able to musically collaborate with others.
3.  Learn musical proficiency on multiple instruments used for leading and accompanying in clinical settings.
4.  Know a wide variety of genres and styles typically used in clinical settings, and the historical and cultural influences related to those musics.
5.  Able to verbally communicate in a clear and professional way using language appropriate to the intended audience.
