Introduction to types of corrosion or degradation in a variety of engineering materials, and methods of controlling corrosion.

P: (MET 18000 or MATR 18000 or ME 30400) and (CHM 11100 or 11500) with grades of C- or better.

1. Understand the basic types of corrosion and degradation which occur in common engineering materials, including metals, polymers, composites, and reinforced concrete.
2. Understand methods of corrosion testing, corrosion protection, and the economics of corrosion.
