MATR 18000 - Materials And Processes



Application and characteristics, both physical and chemical, of the materials most commonly used in industry; the mechanical processes by which materials may be shaped or formed.

Preparation for Course
P: ET 10600 with grade of C- or better. P or C: MA 15300 or higher with grade of C- or better.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of physical and mechanical properties of solids. 
2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of equipment and techniques for determining materials properties. 
3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic manufacturing processes for producing materials. 
4. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relationships between materials properties and design equations & concepts. 
5. Write clear, concise laboratory reports which present data in tabular and graphical form.
