CM 45700 - Construction Safety



This course introduces the impact of safety on the construction industry, including in-depth discussions on the application of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Safety and Health Standards for the construction industry. The emphasis of this course is to provide training for job sited supervisory personnel. In addition, this course fulfills the requirements for the OSHA 30-hour Card.

Preparation for Course
P: CM 22000 with grade of C- or better.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Understand the importance of maintaining a safe work environment and role of safety in construction projects.
2.  Create a job safety analysis for a given construction project.
3.  Describe the appropriate OSHA regulations that apply.
4.  Outline procedures for workplace injury prevention, risk management, and incident investigations.
5.  Demonstrate understanding of safety record-keeping and management, and the role of the safety manager.
6.  Explain policies, procedures and equipment needed to deal with hazardous materials.
