MUSC 38363 - Concert And Event Promotion
An in-depth look at the concert and event industry. Students will learn about the live music industry and gain an understanding of what it takes to be a concert and event promoter. Students will also learn about new technology that is changing the way concerts are performed including new revenue streams for live artists.
Preparation for Course P: MUSC 18203 with grade of C- or better and admitted into a program of the School of Music.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the techniques used by concert promoters to contract with a venue.
2. Show how a tour is routed and construct a tour at venues across the country.
3. Demonstrate the knowledge of venue and touring agreements.
4. Breakdown the roles within the live touring industry and how they interact with each other.
5. Identify and estimate expenses for a tour/show.
6. Determine if a promoter will be financially successful based on the financials estimated for a show.
