MUSC 10300 - Music Recording And Production I
An introductory course in music/audio recording and production. Topics will include a review of the physics of sound, critical/technical listening and analysis, microphones, digital audio, basic DAW operation, and basic audio signal flow. Students will be required to create basic music recording projects.
Preparation for Course P: MUSC 10200 with grade of C- or better.
Cr. 3. Notes Must be admitted into a program of the School of Music. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Develop beginning technical and critical listening skills.
2. Review, understand and apply the essential physics of sound, hearing, acoustics, and music.
3. Demonstrate understanding and application of microphone designs and features, and digital audio fundamentals.
4. Operate the approved DAW software platform at a basic level in order to produce audio and music recordings.
5. Analyze audio and music recordings in a critical manner, with reference to audio and music creation and production.
6. Demonstrate command of concepts, terminology, and procedures related to the field of music recording and production.
