EDU 45000 - Child Development Seminar



Students will revisit child development theories, issues, and trends, discussing the direct application of this information in the preschool, kindergarten, and primary grade classrooms in which they are student teaching.

1.  Discuss typical and atypical patterns in child development with a deeper focus of how different contexts influence child development including demographic, cultural, linguistic, racial, special needs, and gender-based diversities.
2.  Utilize current theories, trends and approaches in child development in course discussions.
3.  Use knowledge of child development theories, plan play-based, child-directed experiences that foster cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical development.
