WOST 34001 - Topics In LGBTQ Studies
This course will take an interdisciplinary approach to a particular topic of interest in the field of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Studies. Students will approach LGBTQ culture and identity through literary, cultural, historical, and/or social texts, with a particular focus on feminist approaches to the study of sexual and gender identity.
Cr. 3. Variable Title (V.T.) Notes Repeatable for credit with different topic for a maximum of 6 credit hours. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Define and articulate the historical, social, and cultural contexts of queer identities, including but not limited to LGBTQIA+ experiences.
2. Evaluate the impact of historical events, legislation, and social movements on the development and recognition of queer identities and communities.
3. Examine the diversity and complexities within queer experiences, including differences based on race, class, gender identity, and nationality.
