AD 20502 - Graphic Design I: Introduction To Graphic Design



This course introduces the student to the basic elements and principles of design as they apply to the field of graphic design. Through exercises, demonstrations, projects, and exercises, students will see Photoshop and Illustrator as design tools and begin to understand how these programs are used in the field. 

Preparation for Course
P: AD 10202 and 10502 with grades of C- or better, and in a program of the Department of Art and Design.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate an awareness of how graphic design is used in the media.
2.  Enhance understanding and awareness of how designs are interpreted by a specific demographic or audience.
3.  Produce strong compositions that show evidence of research, conceptual development, and craftsmanship in the execution.
4.  Develop proficiency in using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
5.  Develop stronger conceptualization and research skills.
