AD 10401 - Introduction To Typography
This course uses pre-digital methodologies to ensure that students experience letterforms at the level of drawing them first, before using them to communicate messages. Students will learn the anatomy of type as well as the units, terminology, and principles of designing with type.
Preparation for Course P: In a program of the Department of Art and Design.
Cr. 3. Hours Studio. 6. Notes Minimum grade of C- required to count towards any program of the Department of Art and Design. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Utilize perceptual and conceptual skills to solve problems creatively in art/design media.
2. Implement 2D and 3D design principles to create compelling and effective works of art and design in a variety of traditional and digital media.
3. Demonstrate an understanding and competency of technical skills in traditional and digital art/design media to effectively communicate and express ideas.
4. Analyze and critique works of art/design in verbal and written forms, using visual vocabulary and a familiarity with the works and intentions of major artists/designers and movements of the past and present.
5. Demonstrate effective visual, verbal, and written communication skills and an aptitude to apply those skills.
