THTR 21300 - Voice For The Actor



Designed to heighten the actor’s awareness of the vocal instrument. Elementary vocal techniques will be practiced to expand the student’s vocal flexibility and range. Emphasis on freeing habitual vocal tensions and teaching the student the fundamentals of vocal health.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Understand and apply the vocal techniques required of the actor and practice a specific vocal warm-up procedure.
2.  Recognize and use effectively the phonetic alphabet in your text work.
3.  Hear, feel, and evaluate healthy vocal practices.
4.  Understand and employ the bodily structures that allow for sound production and how to feel/adjust sound placement.
5.  Develop and explore new ways in which to use your voice to support your acting work/how the voice can convey an emotional journey and create character (and the technical demands that accompany it) that you can apply to your work after this course.
