THTR 21300 - Voice For The Actor
Designed to heighten the actor’s awareness of the vocal instrument. Elementary vocal techniques will be practiced to expand the student’s vocal flexibility and range. Emphasis on freeing habitual vocal tensions and teaching the student the fundamentals of vocal health.
Cr. 2. Hours Class 1, Lab 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Articulate the basic physical mechanism that produces sound, and ultimately, the voice.
2. Build the habit of warming up the voice.
3. Strengthen individual vocal power and presence.
4. Establish an emotional and intellectual connection to the voice, strengthen that connection through speech and demonstrate these connections in presenting chosen texts.
5. Demonstrate the use of healthy vocal practice.
6. Demonstrate and articulate the Linklater Progression or a progression of another recognized voice development system, including: a. Physical Awareness; b. Breath Awareness; c. Touch of Sound; d. Gathering and Freeing Vibrations; e. Opening the Channel; f. The Resonators. g. Articulation.
