PSY 54000 - History Of Psychology
A review of the philosophical, theoretical, and methodological issues that entered into the development of modern psychology. Emphasis is placed on historical themes that continue to be active in the science and profession of psychology.
Preparation for Course P: PSY 20300 with grade of C- or better and senior class standing.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the historical roots of contemporary psychology.
2. Identify and discuss the major issues, themes, models, and paradigms that have shaped psychological thought over the years.
3. Discuss how societal forces and developments in other disciplines have shaped the evolution of psychology.
4. Identify the major historical figures in the psychology, their lives, times, and contributions.
5. Critically evaluate the major historical trends in psychology, and communicate such historical issues in an organized and concise manner.
