MET 49400 - Senior Design And Analysis
This course will focus on mechanical design, finite element analysis, environmental concerns, and/or ethical challenges. Technical reports will be written and one will involve an oral presentation.
Preparation for Course P: Senior class standing.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, creative thinking and brainstorming, Engineering materials, mechanics, fluid power, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and/or automatic control, as appropriate to the project. Manufacturing processes, mechanical design, CAD, and/or industrial operations, as appropriate to the project. Experiment design, practice, and interpretation, as appropriate to the project. Teamwork, including cooperation and leadership skills. Technical problem-solving skills. Written and oral technical reports. Timeliness, quality, and continuous improvement.
2. Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to mechanical engineering technology.
3. Design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to mechanical engineering technology.
4. Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments, and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
5. Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
