AD 24101 - Printmaking Fundamentals



Study of materials, tools, processes in the various methods of printmaking (block printing, lithography, and intaglio) as they are used for contemporary graphic concerns.

Preparation for Course
P: AD 10202 and AD 12100, and in a program of the Department of Art and Design.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Have exposure to the numerous tools and techniques of printmaking.
2.  Have a greater awareness of positive/negative space interaction and harmony through the design inherent in printmaking media.
3.  Have a greater ability to compose through value; an increased awareness of texture.
4.  Discover how printmaking offers new possibilities to the students with its rich values and textures.
5.  Become a more decisive artist through the dramatic decision-making process while making a print.
6.  Have the ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas reflected in one’s work and critiquing peers’ work as well.  
7.  Have a much-increased level of craftsmanship and process rigor.  
8.  Become familiar with historical and contemporary examples of printmaking.
