FVS 10100 - Introduction To Film



Nature of film technique and film language, analysis of specific films, major historical, theoretical, and critical developments in film and film study from the beginnings of cinema to the present.

Preparation for Course
P: Placement at or above ENGL 13100 (or Equivalent).

1.  Understand how film has evolved from the silent era to modern cinema.
2.  Recognize the cultural and societal influences associated with the film viewing experience.
3.  Define the various components associated with cinema production.
4.  Detail the individual and collaborative role of the production team in the filmmaking process.
5.  Identify basic film terminology.
6.  Describe the differences between multiple film theories and genres.
7.  Critically analyze narrative films utilizing mis-en-scene, style and theory.
