ENGL 47901 - American Ethnic And Minority Literature
A survey of representative authors and works of American ethnic and minority literature with primary focus on black, Hispanic, and Native Americans.
Preparation for Course P: ENGL 20201 or ENGL 23301 (or Equivalent).
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Able to articulate a clear understanding of modes of reading and their literary, critical, and historical contexts.
2. Able to consider familiar perspectives on reading and writing in light of new perspectives and engage the challenges, opportunities, and conflicts these new perspectives present.
3. Able to experiment with how our readings might change when new perspectives are applied.
4. Able to inquire into the assumptions that govern conventional uses of language, form, and genre.
5. Able to experiment with new forms and genres of writing and reading to develop new expressions.
6. Able to strengthen creative and critical writing via regular assignments with substantial opportunity for feedback.
