 A comparative survey of the masterpieces of Eastern and Western literature from Renaissance to the present, including English translations of these works.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Engage you in reading major literary texts of Western and non-Western authors, including poetry, fiction, and drama. You will respond to these texts, through close reading and critical thinking, so that you can identify, compare, and analyze the common themes embodied in these literary texts. 
2.  Learn the basic literary concepts pertaining to poetry, fiction, and drama. 
3.  Analyze the role and impact of open-mindedness, diversity, and tolerance as related to the content and perspectives expressed in the literature that you will study.
