EDU 47400 - Undergraduate Seminar In Music Education

Taken concurrently with student teaching. To provide a venue for current music student teachers to reflect on and discuss their student teaching experiences, to complete their licensing portfolios, to discuss current issues in education, and to prepare for the job search.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Review and discuss in their student teaching experiences paying particular attention to the relationship of university-taught theory and field-based practice.
2. Read and report on current news items of interest and application to their student teaching experiences.
3. Complete their professional resumes, including cover letters, vita and interview portfolio.
4. Reactivate or maintain membership in the college chapter of NAfME/IMEA.
5. Assume the role of reflective practitioners as they observe, assist, and teach within the classroom.
6. Develop organizational and advocacy skills during the teaching experience and by teaching in the classroom, and by working with parents and other community members.
