EDU 44700 - Methods Of Teaching Secondary English
Prepares prospective teachers to design and apply methods of teaching English language arts at the secondary level. Public school participation required.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Employ knowledge of learning processes associated with critically consuming, curating, and creating various types of texts, both individually and collaboratively.
2. Draw from theory, research, and knowledge of English language arts (ELA) to plan instruction that is coherent, relevant, standards-aligned, antiracist/antibias, and differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
3. Plan formative and summative assessments that are informed by research and scholarship, aligned with established objectives and activities, and support students in monitoring their progress toward learning goals.
4. Reflect critically to consider how identities and experiences frame teaching practices and impact instruction.
5. Participate actively in ELA-related learning communities, demonstrating knowledge independently and in collaboration with other stakeholders.
6. Interact knowledgeably with practicing and prospective teachers, demonstrating preparation for leadership, professional learning, and advocacy for students, teachers, and ELA.
