EDU 44500 - Methods Of Teaching Foreign Languages



Development and practice of skills and techniques for teaching world languages, selecting content and materials, and evaluating student and teacher performance. Public school participation is required.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate developing knowledge of linguistic concepts and theories that undergird language use and instructional practices in the world language classroom.
2.  Engage in self-reflection to analyze language use, dialects, and cultural experiences that inform one’s work as a world language teacher.
3.  Analyze curricula for world language instruction, comparing and contrasting programs, benefits, levels of instruction, and target populations.
4.  Design learner-centered lesson plans and unit plans to support students’ development of the target language, demonstrating broad and comprehensive understanding of instructional planning and delivery, assessment, and the learning environment.
