EDU 46500 - Service Delivery Systems And Consultation Strategies



Reviews methods of implementing service delivery systems; consulting with professionals and parents; designing in-service training programs; and developing referral systems, curricular and personnel resources, and evaluation techniques used in special education programs.

Preparation for Course
P: EDU 37001 with a grade of C- or better.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws as they apply to students with special needs and their families and how those affect student services and school placements.
2.  Demonstrate collaboration knowledge with families, other educators, related service providers, individuals with exceptionalities, and personnel from community agencies in culturally responsive ways to address the needs of individuals with exceptionalities across a range of learning experiences.
3.  Demonstrate a broad and comprehensive understanding of professional environments and expectations and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others to improve student learning, to engage in continuous professional growth and self reflection, and to adhere to legal and ethical requirements of the profession.
4.  Apply models, skills, and processes of teaming when collaborating and communicating with families and professionals, using culturally and linguistically responsive and affirming practices. In partnership with families and other professionals, candidates develop and implement individualized plans and successful transitions that occur across the age span. Candidates use a variety of collaborative strategies while working with and supporting other adults.
