EDU 34600 - Guidance Of Young Children
A study of child guidance for parents and/or professionals which includes the impact of child development and environments on adult-child interactions. Emphasizes collaboration between adults for optimal child outcomes.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate broad understanding across multiple distinct disciplines emphasizing how these fields both influence and pose challenges to each other regarding the guidance of young children.
2. Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate diverse perspectives to effectively address complex problems in working effectively with young children.
3. Integrate and communicate ideas, arguments, solutions, and narratives derived from a variety of perspectives and disciplines regarding the guidance of young children.
4. Explore the ethical and global dimensions of interdisciplinary issues, such as socio-cultural context, responsibility, accountability, sustainability, privacy, and research integrity regarding the guidance of young children.
5. Use current models and theories to describe, explain, and compare outcomes for different approaches to facilitating young children’s behavioral development.
6. Evaluate evidence supporting conclusions about the effectiveness of strategies that influence interactions with and the behavior of young children.
7. Analyze and evaluate texts, events, or ideas in their multicultural or intellectual contexts to explore diverse approaches to the guidance of young children.
