ECON 36001 - Public Finance Survey
Study of the role and scope of government expenditures and taxation. Topics include public goods, externalities, income redistribution programs, and major elements of taxation.
Preparation for Course P: ECON 20101 and 20201 with grades of C- or better.
Junior or senior class standing.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Explore public expenditure programs and evaluate their effects on consumer behavior.
2. Apply the basic framework for tax analysis to assess government revenue policies.
3. Analyze the U.S. revenue system and the impact of taxation on consumer and firm decision-making.
4. Evaluate and debate issues related to the U.S. debt deficit and potential tax reforms.
