ECET 47000 - Technology Project Management



Topics include project management concepts, project life cycle; project initiation, team building, planning, review, execution, and tracking and control; project-related issues, resource, cost, subcontractor control, and risk management; Web-based project management and collaboration; project management and integration tools. A portion of the course is devoted to case studies. Written reports and oral presentations required.

Preparation for Course
P: Electrical Engineering Technology B.S. or Computer Engineering Technology B.S. majors with junior or higher class standing.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Plan, manage, and complete a project (Criterion 3 items 1, Criterion 5).
2.  Observe and apply ethical principles, personal values, and responsibility management practices (Criterion 5).
3.  Use manuals, handbooks, library and technical references, Internet search engines and Web sites, and material/equipment specifications, and computer programs such as spreadsheet and project management tools, in one’s project and reports, where applicable (Criterion 3 items 1).
4.  Apply industry methodologies and procedures: project identification, initial research and source contacts, system analysis/requirements, requirement review, design, design review, periodic progress report, procurement of materials, and planning (Criterion 3, items 1,2,3,4,5, Criterion 5).
5.  Use oral and written communication skills in a real-world project management and problem solving situation (Criterion 3, item 3).
6.  Provide and present the good project proposal, periodic progress reports, project presentation, and project report (Criterion 3, items 3,5 Criterion 5).
