CLCS 25000 - Second Year Latin II
Reading from Virgil’s Aeneid with examination of the epic as a whole. Prosody of dactylic hexameter and study of poetic devices. Grammar review.
Preparation for Course P: CLCS 20000 or consent of instructor.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate reading comprehension of written Latin on an intermediate level.
2. Write Latin on a intermediate level.
3. Identify basic grammatical elements of Latin sentence structure.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of the daily life of the Latin-speaking world; and contributions made by Latin-speaking figures to world literature, art, music, science, and commerce.
5. Demonstrate the ability to move a spoken conversation forward, with intermediate listening comprehension and speaking skills.
