CHM 26600 - Organic Chemistry Laboratory II
A continuation of CHM 26500. All experiments are designed to illustrate the principles discussed in CHM 26200 or 26605. A major portion of the course is devoted to the methods employed in organic qualitative analysis. The student is expected to identify unknowns and mixtures and is introduced to some modern instrumental techniques.
Preparation for Course P: CHM 26500.
C: CHM 26200.
Cr. 2. Hours Lab 6. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Use theory to understand/predict experimental observations.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the physical properties and a molecular understanding of chemical reactivity and materials.
3. Document scientific information and experimental data and write scientific reports, with graphical presentation of data.
4. Plan and perform chemical transformations.
5. Recognize and use chemical instrumentation and spectroscopy.
6. Identify and handle hazardous materials.
