CHM 24100 - Introductory Inorganic Chemistry



Descriptive inorganic chemistry dealing in a systematic way with the elements and the structures, properties, and reactions of their compounds.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Understand the fundamental inorganic chemistry, including electronic structure of atoms and periodic trend; molecular orbital theory of small inorganic molecules, and symmetry and point groups of inorganic complexes.
2.  Understand the basics of crystal lattices, and metallic and binary ionic structures.
3.  Learn physical properties of inorganic systems, in the context of acid-base theories and redox reactions.
4.  Explore the descriptive chemistry of main group elements.
