BUS 30000 - International Business Administration



A study of the different aspects of international business including, but not limited to international politics, culture, economics, finance, technology, marketing, ethical decision-making, strategic planning and management, and human resource development in a global environment.

Preparation for Course
P:  BUS 10001, BUS 20401, and ECON 20101 with grades of C- or better.
Sophomore or higher class standing.

Notes
Enrollment in business (BUS) courses numbered 30100 and above is restricted to students who meet established criteria: business majors who have met the pre-business requirements and been admitted into one of the business majors; or students that have declared other pre-approved programs or minors which require particular business courses, and completed all course prerequisites; or students that have obtained written permission from the department through which the course is offered.
Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Understand how elements of the socio-cultural environment impact a country’s general environment, including religion, social class, population migration patterns, cultural and ethical differences, and family and traditions.
2.  Recognize how a country’s political-legal environment impacts its general business environment, including legal and justice systems, economic integration, government stability, trade and monetary policy, competition regulations, consumer protection laws and human rights.
3.  Distinguish between varying types of economic systems and how they contribute to a country’s general environment, particularly the command economy, the mixed economy, and the free-enterprise system.
4.  Assess a country’s technological environment and how access to and implementation of technology shapes the country’s general environment.
5.  Assess how a country’s socio-cultural, political-legal, economic, and technological environments create a country’s overall attractiveness for global trade through exporting, licensing agreements, strategic alliances and foreign direct investment.
