BIOL 50500 - Biology Of Invertebrate Animals



A survey of the invertebrate animals, their morphology, physiology, ecology, and phylogeny.

Preparation for Course
P: BIOL 10900, or BIOL 11700 and 11900.

Student Learning Outcomes
1.    Recognize recent and fossil members of each animal phylum from examples, photographs, and descriptions, and list the diagnostic traits of each phylum, including behavioral, organ and sensory systems for each phylum and the variation in these systems between orders of the phylum.
2.    Provide brief summary of the relationships between orders of each phylum and between the phyla,  providing genetic and/or fossil evidence from published literature.
3.    Discuss the ecological roles of each phylum or members of the phylum.
