BIOL 56011 - Genomics: Concepts And Applications


Our genetic code, or genome, serves as the blueprint of life, guiding our development from a single cell to a complex and functional organism. This course aims to provide students with a thorough grasp of essential genomics concepts and their practical applications. Through a blend of lectures, discussions of primary literature, and hands-on activities, participants will explore the forefront of genomics research and its relevance across diverse domains of lives, including medicine, microbiology, agriculture, and ecology. Moreover, ethical considerations and the broader societal impact of genomics will be critically examined.

Preparation for Course
P: BIOL 21800 or equivalent with a grade of C- or better,  or graduate class standing.
