STAT 12500 - Communicating With Statistics An introduction to the basic concepts and methods in statistical reasoning that are commonly referenced in the print media. Topics include data collection methods, descriptive statistics, basic techniques of estimation, and theory testing. Students will analyze and interpret statistics relating to contemporary problems in politics, business, science and social issues.
Preparation for Course P: MA 12401 or 11100 with grade of C- or better, or placement by departmental exam; or placement by departmental exam; or C: MA 12700 (can be taken as a concurrent corequisite if prerequisites are not met).
