Richard T. Doermer School of Business
The objective of this minor is to enhance the educational credentials of PFW students outside of the Hospitality Management degree program by preparing them to be more competitive in local and national labor market opportunities that utilize knowledge of hospitality, sanitation, food and beverage, and restaurant operations.
At the completion of this minor, students will achieve the following Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify key components of the hospitality and tourism industry, including the business functions and economic significance of food and beverage operations.
- Apply food safety, sanitation, and public health standards to aid in decision-making and regulatory compliance in food and beverage settings.
- Apply foundational foodservice knowledge and operational processes to support managerial decision-making related to food selection and preparation.
- Analyze food and beverage operations using basic management principles, including cost control, labor utilization, and service quality, to evaluate operational effectiveness.

Minor Requirements:
Requirements You must contact the Doermer School of Business Student Success Center to declare this minor. You must earn at least a C- in foundational and upper-level courses to satisfy the requirements of the minor program, while maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0. At least 9 of the required 13 credits must be completed at PFW. The maximum time allowed from the completion of the first course to satisfy all program requirements is 8 years. Student Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that you satisfy all graduation requirements specified for each selected program. Thus, it is essential that you develop a thorough understanding of the required courses, academic policies, and procedures governing your academic career. If you cannot complete all program requirements by your stated graduation date but fail to remove those from your plan of study, the Registrar’s Office in consultation with your academic advisor will remove unmet pursuits from your plan of study. Changing curricular records during the graduation term of application may affect state or federal financial aid awards. All requests for exceptions to specific requirements must be made in writing and may be granted only by written approval from the appropriate chair or dean. |
