The Honors Curriculum is an undergraduate program that seeks to create learning opportunities and an environment of intellectual excitement and discovery through enriched courses of study and activities within a learning community. Through involvement with the Honors Curriculum, students enter into a partnership of learning that extends well beyond the classroom to incorporate an interdisciplinary approach with career-oriented skills. Rich course opportunities and tailored projects create an individual curriculum for each student.
The Honors program is open to students in all undergraduate degrees and majors. Traditional incoming students become eligible for the program by meeting any one of the following criteria: placing in the top 10 percent of their high school’s graduating class, scoring a 1200 or higher SAT in any one category, or attaining a 1800 SAT (or 27 ACT) composite score. Any student may participate in the Honors program after completing 12 or more college credits at Purdue University Fort Wayne with a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Transfer students are eligible for the program if they have completed at least 12 college credits with a GPA of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale from the transferring institution.
To earn the Certificate of Completion along with the Honors Pin, you must fulfill the requirements for a Purdue Fort Wayne (Regulations ) baccalaureate degree and the Honors Curriculum. The requirements for the Honors Curriculum are as follows:
- 18 credits of honors coursework through honors courses or H-options
- Honors courses that represent at least two disciplines.
- At least three honors credits at the 300-level or above.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- An honors project (including presentation and paper).
Because the Honors Curriculum is an undergraduate program, all of the requirements of the program must be completed while the student is pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Upon completion of such a degree, further completion of the Honors Curriculum requirements will not take effect unless work toward a different baccalaureate degree is undertaken.
