The purpose of the certificate is to prepare students for positions in the banking sector and to provide them with a working knowledge of the fundamentals of economics, and money and banking.

The student learning outcomes for the certificate include a working knowledge of the areas of:

Asset and liability management
Commercial bank operations
Consumer and commercial banking
Credit Analysis
Derivative instruments
Financial intermediaries
Interest rate forecasting
Macroeconomics analysis
Modeling simulation
Regulation
The Federal Reserve and monetary policy

Admission

Admission to the Certificate in Bank Management Program is open to students currently enrolled in the School of Business with junior or senior standing. If you have a baccalaureate degree, you can pursue the Certificate if the bachelor’s degree was awarded by an institution accredited at the baccalaureate level or higher by the Higher Learning Commission (or comparable regional association) at the time the degree was granted and you are formally admitted to Purdue University Fort Wayne.

To enroll in the program, you must first be formally admitted to Purdue University Fort Wayne. You must provide the Purdue Fort Wayne admissions office with official transcripts documenting completion of your bachelor’s degree.

Gainful Employment:

This program qualifies for Gainful Employment.

The U.S. Department of Education has created a scorecard for each university and its programs. The scorecard shows data for the university such as graduation rate, average annual cost, and median earnings. Then, when certain minimum standards have been met, data are available for a specific program. That data could include median earnings, median total debt, and number of graduates. Certificate Requirements

You must meet the prerequisites for each course and earn a grade of C- or better in each course, while maintaining at least a 2.30 GPA in courses required for the certificate. You must complete all of the required credits at Purdue Fort Wayne to be eligible to receive the certificate.

You must earn a C- or better in each of the following courses:
BUS 34500 - Money, Banking, And Capital Market Cr. 3.
BUS 44600 - Bank And Financial Intermediation Cr. 3.
BUS 45400 - Current Topics In Banking Cr. 3.
BUS 49700 - Bank Simulation Course Cr. 3.

Total Credits: 12

Student Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that you satisfy all graduation requirements specified for each selected program. Thus, it is essential that you develop a thorough understanding of the required courses, academic policies, and procedures governing your academic career. If you cannot complete all program requirements by your stated graduation date but fail to remove those from your plan of study, the Registrar’s Office in consultation with your academic advisor will remove unmet pursuits from your plan of study. Changing curricular records during the graduation term of application may affect state or federal financial aid awards. All requests for exceptions to specific requirements must be made in writing and may be granted only by written approval from the appropriate chair or dean.
