Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this degree, students will:
- Engage in professional learning and practice within ethical standards.
- Address students’ individual developmental needs through effective specialized instruction and appropriate environments.

The Degree:
To earn the Master of Science in Education with a major in Special Education, you must satisfactorily complete the required minimum of 30 graduate credit hours, and you must satisfy the requirements of Purdue University Fort Wayne (Regulations) and the School of Education. At least 15 of the 30 total credits toward the M.S. Ed. degree must be completed at Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Admission Requirement:Please note that Admission to the Purdue Fort Wayne Elementary Education graduate program requires an official transcript reflecting 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Grade Point Average Scale.
In addition, all students must submit the following documentation for admission to the program:
- Application Fee
- Transcripts
- Two (2) Professional Letters of Recommendation
- Academic Statement of Purpose
- Personal History Statement

The scorecard shows data for the university such as graduation rate, average annual cost, and median earnings. Elective Courses: Credits 6
Six (6) credit hours of elective credits in graduate education courses may be used to meet the elective requirement for this degree. All electives must be approved by the candidate’s academic advisor or program director. Student Responsibility
Student Responsibility You are responsible for satisfying the graduation requirements specified for your selected program. Thus, it is essential that you develop a thorough understanding of the required courses, academic policies and procedures governing your academic career. If you cannot complete all program requirements by your stated graduation date but fail to remove those from your plan of study, the Registrar’s Office in consultation with your academic advisor will remove unmet pursuits from your plan of study. All requests for exceptions to specific requirements must be made in writing and may be granted only by written approval from the Graduate Director. |
