A minor in music is designed for students who wish to explore the field of music while majoring in another area. The student may customize the curriculum to realize their own musical and creative potential. To earn this minor, you must complete the courses listed below and earn a grade of C- or better in each.

18 credit hours selected from the following:
Music Fundamentals: Credits 3
Select one of the following courses:
Music History and Literature: Credits 3
Select one of the following courses:
Applied Study and/or Ensemble: Credits 2
Students are required to complete a minimum of 2 hours credit in ensembles or applied study.
Placement in ensembles and/or applied studios by audition only.
- Applied Study (with jury examination)
- Ensembles
Music Recording Technology
Music Recording Technology (required 10 credit hours of courses)
* Students pursuing this option must successfully complete a pre-screening process and receive acceptance to the courses by the director of the Music Recording Technology program.
Performance Studies
10 credits from the options below:
Applied Music study: 200 or 300 level. (2 credits per semester). Available for the study of voice, piano, organ, winds, brass, orchestral strings, guitar and percussion.
Ensemble: (1 credit per semester) Symphonic Band (MUS X040), Symphonic Wind Ensemble( MUS X041), Community Orchestra (MUS X 043), University Singers (MUS X071), Jazz Ensemble (MUS X042), Guitar Ensemble (MUS 341).
* All applied study and ensembles require an audition/instructor permission.
General Music
10 credit hours
Any combination of department of music course offerings. Students are required to meet all course prerequisite and proficiency level expectations.
