Fine Arts Minor

A Fine Arts Minor is designed for IPFW students outside of Department of Fine Arts programs.   IPFW students can earn a minor in art by completing 15 credit hours within the Department of Fine Arts while maintaining a 2.0 GPA within the classes. Classes must be FINA pre-fix classes and must be Fine Arts major classes.   No classes can be taken beyond the minor fulfillment unless a student becomes a Fine Arts major. 

Resident Requirements  Completion of as least nine resident credits is required for the minor.

A Fine Arts Minor is designed for IPFW students outside of Department of Fine Arts program.  IPFW students can earn a minor in art by completing 15 credit hours within the Department of Fine Arts while maintaining a 2.0 GPA within the classes.   All paperwork concerning the request to complete a minor, must be completed and be on file in the Department of Fine Arts before any classes can be taken.   FINA 121 and FINA 151 must be taken and completed before any higher level classes can be taken.  Classes approved for the minor are ones relegated for art majors.

Select three additional classes within the Fine Arts program (Department of Fine Arts for qualifying classes).  At least two of the additional FINA classes must be at 200 level or above.  Any 300-400 art history classes must be preceded by H111 or H112.

Resident Requirements   Completion of at least 6 resident credits at the 200 level or above is required for the Fine Arts Minor.

 

Additional Fine Arts Credits: 9


Select three (3) additional classes within the Fine Arts program.

  • 200 level studio classes must precede 300 level studio classes.
  • 300 level studio classes must precede 400 level studio classes. 
  • Art history classes can be used as part of the additional classes if H111 and H112 are taken in sequence before advanced art history classes. 
  • Studio availability outside of class time might be restricted for Fine Arts minors.
