The minor in business studies provides a fundamental background in the principles of business and economics. The minor is available to any IPFW student majoring in a non-business bachelor’s degree program. Your eligibility for this program is governed by the policies of the college/school/department in which you are enrolled. Please see your academic advisor for additional information.

All courses in this minor have specific prerequisites. You must meet the prerequisites for each course and earn a grade of C- or better in each course. You must complete at least 12 of the required 18 credits at IPFW to be eligible to receive the minor.

Minor Requirements Credits: 15

You must earn a grade of C- or better in each of the following courses:
BUS A201 - Principles of Financial Accounting Cr. 3.
BUS K201 - The Computer In Business Cr. 3
ECON E201 - Introduction to Microeconomics Cr. 3.
BUS Z302 - Management of Organizations and People Cr. 3
BUS M201 - Marketing for the Small Business Cr. 3. or
BUS M301 - Marketing Management in a Competitive Environment Cr. 3.

Business Elective Credits: 3

Choose one course (3 credits) from the list of courses below. Check the pre-requisites carefully to make sure all the pre-requisites are met for the selected course.

BUS A317 - Computer-Based Accounting Systems Cr. 3.
BUS A328 - Introduction to Taxation Cr. 3.
BUS D300 - International Business Administration Cr. 3.
BUS F301 - Financial Management Cr. 3.
BUS L203 - Commercial Law I Cr. 3.
BUS P301 - Operations Management Cr. 3.
BUS W201 - Small Business Management Capstone Cr. 3.
Any 300 or 400 level ECON course (check pre-requisites).

Note

As a major in another bachelor’s degree program, you are not eligible to enroll in any additional business or economics courses. No more than 25 percent of a non-business student’s baccalaureate curriculum may be in subjects available in the Richard T. Doermer School of Business.
