Special Education Graduate Certification in Mild Intervention

This 24-credit graduate certification program will allow the teacher candidate to obtain an Exceptional Needs-Mild Intervention teaching license. Teacher candidates are eligible to complete the coursework if they hold a current teaching license.  This program qualifies a teacher to teach students as having Mild Intellectual Impairment, Moderate Intellectual Disability, Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Emotional Disabilities.  Completers of this program will become eligible for Indiana certification in Mild Intervention.

Notes:


All 24 credits in this program may be applicable toward a master’s degree in Special Education at IPFW.

Teacher candidates will be eligible to apply for an Exceptional Needs-Mild license in P-12.

All teachers must complete all courses above and pass the following Praxis II exam: Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications (0543)

Or the Pearson Indiana CORE Assessments for Educator Licensure exams: Exceptional Needs-Mild Intervention (P-12) (025) and Exceptional Needs-Mild Intervention Reading Instruction (5-12) (064).

Intense Intervention License


The Intense Intervention Licensure Program is a 12-credit-hour graduate program offered in collaboration with IU South Bend; it allows the teacher to work with students with moderate and severe disabilities.  This is a cohort program with the course sequence starting each fall.  For more information about the Intense Intervention program you may contact the College of Education and Public Policy at 260-481-5742 or you may access the following Web site: www.ipfw.edu/prst/special/programs/intinvlicprg.shtml
