Student Learning Outcomes
1.  Interpret and perform basic standard notation through 5th position, including ties, syncopations, and simple/compound meters; mark fingerings/counting as needed.
2.  Form, switch, and voice-lead open chords and movable/barre shapes (E/A forms) plus basic triads on string sets; justify voicing choices for register and mix.
3.  Execute and transpose all 12 major scales (1st position) and common pentatonic scales in two positions.
4.  Maintain and adapt strumming patterns in simple and compound meters, incorporating dynamics, anticipations, and rests; choose patterns that fit style.
5.  Prepare, interpret, and perform two pieces in contrasting styles (e.g., pop vs. blues/country), defending choices of tone (pick/fingers/capo), groove, and articulation.
6.  Outline and improvise over a 12-bar blues, targeting guide tones (3rds/7ths), using call-and-response and a turnaround; evaluate phrasing and space.
