HTM 38800 - Esports Management
This course studies the business and management of esports within the sports and tourism industries. Students explore how competitive gaming is organized, marketed, and monetized, with attention to event operations, sponsorship, branding, fan engagement, and the economic impact on host destinations. Emphasis is placed on applying sports management principles to live and digital gaming environments.
Cr. 3. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the structure and key stakeholders of the global esports ecosystem and its relationship to the traditional sports industry.
2. Analyze business models and revenue streams within esports, including sponsorship, media rights, merchandising, and event tourism.
3. Apply sports and event management principles to the planning and delivery of esports competitions and fan experiences.
4. Develop strategic marketing and branding initiatives that leverage esports for organizational growth and destination promotion.
5. Assess ethical, legal, and governance issues in esports, including athlete management, integrity, and inclusivity.
